Jason was introduced to woodturning at the age of 12. School and parental support nurtured this interest and, at 15, he attended a woodturning course with Cecil Jordan at Parnham House in Dorset. The week long course introduced Jason to the simple art of the turned wooden box. When schooling ended, he attended Bucks College at High Wycombe (now Bucks New University), pursuing Furniture Design & Management and gaining a BA (Hons) degree.

Jason then worked for several years making furniture and custom kitchens, allowing him to develop and hone his skills. He enjoys both making furniture and working on the lathe, and can turn his hand to most woodworking projects and disciplines.
Jason has now enjoyed a long association with Axminster Tool Centre which has allowed him to build on his technical knowledge of woodworking tools and machinery, enabling his students to benefit from his experience when choosing or maintaining their tools and equipment.
One of his main creative flairs lies in making and developing ideas for turned wooden boxes. Jason firmly believes that the natural grain pattern and colour of the wood should always be noticeable and not be hidden. This has led him to create boxes that have won competitions in the UK, including First Prize in the Plain Box category of the Worshipful Company of Turners competition in 2010.

A competent and discerning craftsman, Jason is well known and respected both here and overseas. He has a strong following in the UK and Australia, where he lived for a year in his twenties. It seems he is becoming a regular demonstrator at the Association of American Woodturners' annual symposium (Conneticut in 2010 and Utah in 2011 both with Craft Supplies and San Jose in 2012 in his own right). He is also spending a week teaching at Craft Supplies in Utah in June 2012.
Jason sells his work through galleries and craft centres.
