introduction
This 5-day summer school is aimed at students who wish
to learn all aspects of turning, as covered in the two-day
course, but in greater detail and with the opportunity of producing a more
challenging range of projects, as the extra time will allow. The extended length
of this course will enable students to leave with a wealth of knowledge on the
subject as well as substantial
hands-on experience in all basic woodturning techniques.
Students will be allocated their own lathe and tools for the duration of the
course to produce a number of test pieces and projects that may be kept for future
reference.
what you
will learn
The course content includes many aspects of woodturning and introduces you to
turning tools, equipment and accessories, including grinding equipment and tool
sharpening.
Techniques demonstrated include between centre work, beads, coves, fillets, and
face plate turning as well as the use of screw chucks and 4 jaw self-centering
chucks.
The course emphasis is on practical turning with a high
degree of hands-on tuition. |
