Woodturning - Fine Goblets Course

introduction

To push and encourage you to build on your existing wood turning skills with step by step guidance. We hope to develop the skills associated with the art of delicately turned wood, the end result being the ability to turn a thin or spiral stem goblet. These added skills plus a completed and treasured item will be yours to take home and develop in your own workshop. A good knowledge of lathe tools and techniques is essential for this two day course.

what you will learn
How to select, prepare and mount materials on the lathe. How to use the lathe and tools in a safe and constructive manner aimed at completion of the work piece, plus the correct use and sharpening of tools, sanding and finishing. All these techniques will enable you to achieve your completed project, either a thin stem or cut spiral stem goblet.

teaching method
This is a ‘hands on’ course, each student being able to work at their own pace. The course will be lead by the tutor who will both demonstrate and explain the techniques to the group as a whole and individuals as required.
