Anyone wishing to make Christmas a little bit more special will enjoy making their own Christmas decorations and gifts during this two day course. Students will be able to produce finished projects to take home with them to impress their family and friends!
This course is aimed at beginners and intermediates alike and will involve the use of the basic tool range including roughing gouge, bowl gouge, skew chisel parting tool scrapers and beading tools plus various measuring and marking tools. The tutor will demonstrate all the techniques you will need which will include safety, tool sharpening, drilling on the lathe, finishing techniques, the use of four jaw chucks and using a pen mandrel.
Students opting for the two day course will create the same pieces as the one day course (two decorations and complete a hand turned pen) PLUS an elegant vase and turned wooden fruit stem.
5 students are taught in a group during this course.

Course hours will run from 9am-5pm (including approximately half an hour for lunch).
All materials for set projects are included in the cost, as is tea/coffee and a light lunch on both days. Please check the course calendar for availability. Course hours will run from 9am - 5pm.
There is no upper age limit for students, however the minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the course and must not be left unattended during class hours.
