Yes, I really did enjoy the course, and it's increased my confidence tremendously. Before the course, I only dared to machine aluminium. The day after the course ended, I was removing 5 thou from an old Citroen 2CV kingpin. Because I can!!
I wrote up a list of machining queries and brought parts of a couple of projects with me, and Joe couldn't have been more patient, knowledgable or helpful. I struggled a bit to keep up with the exercises but Joe put himself out to 'get me through', so that I took home largely finished components. At the end of Tuesday, I suddenly remembered that I needed to get to the railway station fairly soon, and Joe gave me a lift there. What a nice bloke!
I was really amazed when I think that Joe was confronted on Monday by four strangers with quite a range of aptitude and experience, yet he somehow managed to spend enough time with each of us to keep us all 'on track'.

The course was an excellent introduction to woodturning. Jason was a great tutor, very tolerant and understanding as well as highly skilled. He was able to coach an absolute novice like me to be able to make some very pleasing first items - my wife was very impressed with the quality and finish!

An excellent course, pitched at just the right level. Very helpful and friendly instructor, anda great atmosphere all round. I learned a lot and would recommend the course and the Axminster organisation in general - brilliant!

I enjoyed the mix of instruction and practice, which was just right. I also appreciated how Jason gave me individual attention; helping me solve roblems with my router and advising me on how to tackle routing tasks which were not covered in the course.
The course was well thought out, was paced correctly and taught with humour. Jason was very knowledgeable and often gave tips which you would never get from a book and which solved a problem without having to buy more hardware.
Beginners Routing
Tom is a natural teacher and the course content was great. I've had no previous experience at milling and the course structure gave me a good understanding of the basics working with different materials and the various aspects of the mill and tooling. Over the two days the tasks became more challenging so that you could use and build on your new found knowledge and techniques which I enjoyed very much. The class of 3 was perfect so that everyone, no matter how fast or slow got great instruction and I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has the slightest incling to learn the basics of milling. I only wish I'd booked on the 5 day course, but I can always come back to learn the lathe at a later date.

Colwin was just brilliant! It really worked having his demo, then us doing for each phase of each project. Best course I have been on in years. I learnt many new things right from the beginning, and most importantly, what i had been doing wrong for years!! Superb, many thanks

Exceeded expectation. Had expected to be in a larger group with less personal attention. Left the course with much more confidence in applying the various processes. I would attend a similar course under Tom's tutelage.

The course was a great experience and i learned a huge amount in just the 2 days. The days go really quickly because there is so much to learn. it was nice to not have any idea what time it was and not care. The course is well paced and i went away with a lathe package. Very good 2 days and well worth the money. keep it up.

I found that Jason was very interactive and if unsure would show and tell you what you needed to see. I found the course well paced and gave time for reflection and interaction which I consider to be good learning.
I found the course well paced and just right for what I wanted to get started.
